I stumbled upon The Logan Family Blog, while on Pinterest, and just had to share her post about A Child’s Ten Commandments to Parents by Dr. Kevin Leman.
5. I am a special gift from God; please treasure me as God intended you to do, holding me accountable for my actions, giving me guidelines to live by, and disciplining me in a loving manner.
- As parents we sometimes forget that children learn through out their life. They are not born knowing what is right and wrong. It is our job to guide and teach them in a loving way.
6. I need your encouragement, but not your praise, to grow. Please go easy on the criticism; remember, you can criticize the things I do without criticizing me.
- For every criticism given an encouraging word should also be said. Remember to criticize the action and not the child. We all make mistakes and learn from them, our children are not any different.
Do you have any personal experience with any of these? If so, please share! Be on the look out for further detail on each commandment!
