Book Review: Growing Grateful Kids

I was given the book Growing Grateful Kids by Susie Larson by a friend, who told me that I should read it.   I had no idea what the book was about except that it was a parenting book.  I listened to my friend and I started to read it; I wasn’t able to put it down!   This book was something that I needed to read at this point in my life and I am grateful that this friend thought of me.

Susie Larson is a mother of three boys.  She writes from a Christian point of view about how to raise your children to be grateful in all ways.  The book has four sections: Model Thankfulness, Teach Perspective, Encourage Faith, Live Abundantly.  She breaks each section up into multiple chapters describing ways to grow towards the sections topic.  Within the chapter she includes life stories, bible verses, prayers, and guidance on how to grow.

I found the book  refreshing.  In one section, she has “Count your Blessing” in where she points out  the most common things that we are blessed with.  This part really hit home for me.  While I may want a bigger house, more money in the bank, I have everything I need and I am thankful for it and know that I am blessed to have all that I do have.

I recommend this book.  It’s an easy read that has some great spiritual advice and guidance.
