Activities for Babies: 3-6 Months

Babies start learning from the minute they are born.  Over the course of their first year they learn so much, there are a lot of activities that you can do with infants to help with development.

Below are a few activities for ages 3-6 months:

  • What’s Cooking?: Whenever you are in the kitchen, talk about each thing you do.  Let your baby play with kitchen utensils, bowls, pots and pans.
  • Reaching: Give your baby their favorite toy to hold.  Take the toy and hold it up a little higher than their hands can reach.  Encourage them to reach for the toy and praise your baby when they reach for the toy.
  • Tapping Away: Give your baby an object and notice he/she will start tapping.  Tap along with them and sing “Tap, tap, tapping”.
  • Shake, Shake, Shake:  Fill several small plastic containers with different objects.  Give a container to your baby and shake.  While shaking the container, use the word “Shake”.

Do you have any fun activities that you do with your infant?  Please let us know!
