Strawberry Tiramisu? Yes, please! Alessandra Aiello shares her Tiramisu ala fragola

How refreshing are strawberries in the summer? Now add them to tiramisu and you have an amazing summer dessert. ALessandra Aiello shares her simple yet delicious recipe, step by step with The Italian Grandmama.

When choosing strawberries, the best time is when they are fresh and local between April and August. Wash them just before using to prevent them from being soggy. If you do wash and slice them before serving, sprinkle them with sugar and cover in an airtight container. They make a wonderful dessert or snack just like that! Add a dollop of whipped cream and you’ve made them decadent!

To hull the strawberries, stick a straw through the bottom, push up and it pops out.

Zest of a lemon juice of a 1/2 lemon

In a medium sauce pan combine the strawberries, water, sugar and juice/zest of a lemon. Bring to a boil and lower heat to simmer for about 25 minutes. Skim the foam on top if needed. Strain in a colander and retain the syrup to cool. The strawberries can eaten over ice cream or yogurt.
