Parenting with a Sense of Humor

I love my son, but sometimes he can be a bit of a smarty pants.  It started when he was about 18 months old, we asked him to use an inside voice because he was inside.  So my son stepped outside on the deck, turned toward the house and proceeded to scream and then smile.  As a parent I didn’t know whether to laugh or be mad.  Ultimately I just laughed.  What can you say to that?

After trying many times to get my son to sleep.  I told him to go lie down in his room.  I got exactly what I asked him.  He lied down at the thresh hold of his bedroom and the hall.  Once again I just laughed.  There was nothing I could say as he was laying there with a HUGE smile on his face.

Parenting without a sense of humor would be a very hard thing!
